The “History Mystery” approach helps students to formulate questions, work with primary sources, develop essay skills, and improve groupwork abilities.
Through roleplay, picture analysis, written source evaluation, individual research and groupwork, students engage in genuine historical mysteries and produce a coherent and accomplished final report.
I plan to develop a range of these exercises in 2010-2011. They can be used as stand-alone teaching units which take about 3 hours plus homework time.
