The following task is one that I set for my IB students during the first half term break. Although it can be set at any point, it's a great way to get them thinking about possible Internal Assessment topics early on in the course. It also requires each student to deliver a classroom presentation.
Student Instructions
Your task is to watch one film, and listen to at least 45 minutes of podcast material, on subjects of your choice taken from the available list and from the ActiveHistory Podcast Database.
You will be expected to deliver a 5-minute presentation to the class upon your return outlining what you watched / listened to, covering such things as:
- Why you chose those particular sources / topics
- Things you learned of interest to share with the rest of the class
- How these sources might be of use at IB (History and elsewhere)
- Questions raised by the sources (e.g. which could become Internal Assessment topics, Extended Essay topics).
Podcast Sources: NOTE - you should also make use of the searchable ActiveHistory Podcast Database! |
