Leech Collector

Doctors in the Middle Ages believe that many diseases are caused by having too much blood in the body. So one of their most common ‘cures’ is to make their patients bleed with leeches. Leeches look like worms, but they live in ponds, have sharp teeth and like to suck blood. Your job as a leech collector is to wade around cold, dirty ponds with bare skin getting leeches to sink their teeth into your body. The leeches will slowly start sucking your blood (a leech can drink 5 times its own body weight before it will drop off!). You will then drag yourself out of the pond, rip the leeches off your body and sell them to doctors. The biggest problem is that leech bites don’t stop bleeding for several hours, so you can lose pints of blood and feel sick for days afterwards.
